"Releasing this split goes beyond sharing a piece of plastic. This split means a special kind of bond that only bands who has toured with friends can comprehend. Each band wrote the skeleton of Two songs and shared one of them with the other band so they could cover it in any way they wanted. Months later the 8 of us got together to the studio to record those 4 songs and listen for the very first time what the other band had done with their song. Pena is what emerged from that process, and you can listen to it today"

The View From My Ivory Tower 7’EP is the follow-up to the Villainy debut album Villainy I. The songwriting has grown as well as the overall vibe. The material on the EP is more massive, epic and thunderous with a raw feel identical to the Villainy live shows.

The latest in a long series of split EPs, this one is probably the meanest, filthiest and most punkish DOOMENTIA had the sadistic pleasure to release! On one side of the wax you will find Violation Wound who were born in a beer and whiskey soaked basement, driven by the burning desire to rip out a dose of 100% real punk rock. Nothing trendy, nothing wimpy, nothing pretentious, just quick-fire face melters fueled by aggression and kick ass riffs that burrow into your skin. Violation Wound consists of Chris Reifert (Autopsy), Joe Orterry and Matt O'Connell and they have no interest in the safe, sanitized plastic punk that saturates the world today. Their tracks will prove that point! On the other side of the ring, not one to be undermined by this bad taste assault, you have Germany's BLIZZARD, proud defenders of all things ugly the early 80's way, already responsible for four full-lengths and a couple of splits that reek of WARFARE, VENOM and the most primitive MOTÖRHEAD tribute you could think of. 

VIOLATION WOUND is violent punk band fronted by Chris Reifert (AUTOPSY, ABSCESS, DEATH) and on this recording the band offers one catchy and intense punk song "Resist! Deny! Defy!".

SURGIKILL from Ohio/Kentucky with Stevo from legendary IMPETIGO and current members of CRUCIFIED MORTALS, VAULTWRAITH, FAITHXTRACTOR, SHED THE SKIN, WOODEN STAKE etc puts out another split for SELFMADEGOD! "Post-Carnage Mishap" is heavy and dark old school death metal song influenced by IMPETIGO, AUTOPSY, INCANTATION, TERRORIZER!

"To be honest it`s sad to write this review because this 7” is a swan song for this German band. Sadly I didn’t catch them live, but at least I shared a beer with these guys ;).

This vinyl was released by legendary German label Rodel rec! I bet this record was pressed in Germany too. The cover art looks very actual, especially in the light of current times. There is no place for all this radical crap in our world! 

So “Do It Yourself” is a fast and good record. These last 8 songs are charged with a nice portion of pumping energy. This grindcore has some taste of death metal, but also it has a good portion of punk… The guys managed to make a good balance of these ingredients, which is great. The production and sound of this EP is not super professional and clean which is the right thing for grindcore, because grindcore can`t sound like power metal, right? The guitar has a pleasant heavy fuzzing tone, the bass is a bit cluttered but it still sounds good, drums are ok (sorry but I didn’t find anything special in these beats). Violent Frustration used a few kinds of vocals, standart growling and pissed off screams, I think it helped them to avoid monotony.  

“Do It Yourself” is a solid last dot in the history of this band and I`m glad that guys recorded an unboring final release!

In an era of "old school" underweight hipster revivalists drenched in reverbs and "atmosphere" (that doesn't sound old school at all), VoV comes back after 6 years of riots, line-up genocides and mental breakdowns striking with 2 new death hymns, already released on tape by Unholy Domain records (august 2016) now ready for proper vinyl and mcd (with 4 bonus tracks) format by Everlasting Spew Records. VoV is not revival, VoV is comprised of people who have grown up in the early 90's and you'll clearly hear it.
